The time has come to say good-bye to Anya. A couple of weeks before Brinley arrived, Cayden became obsessed with "Anya." (That's pacifier... for those of you who do not know or understand Caydenese!) We decided to allow him his Anya all the time, whenever he wanted it, in exchange for good behavior when the baby arrived. We got just what we asked for! The transition went really well. The only thing was he went from getting Anya at bed to Anya ALL DAY long! We didn't go anywhere without the pacifier... actually multiple pacifiers! We thought we might let this go on for about 3 months, but it's just getting ridiculous! He was putting it in his mouth between bites at the dinner table and it was beginning to look more like a chew toy for your dog than a paci.
So- we pulled the plug Monday morning... cold turkey! Anya detox began bright and early! We said good-bye to Anya and that was that! Cayden cried for 37 minutes at nap time FOR ANYA. It was the saddest thing I have ever heard. It sounded like he has just lost his best friend. Very sad!
That night he went to bed without even a whimper! Thank the Lord! It is so hard hearing him cry that way! Today he is doing great. He hasn't even mentioned Anya... not one single time!
It's a milestone though! As Matt said, "Our little boy is growing up!" Hopefully he'll start talking more and we won't suffer from misshaped teeth because of the paci. Thank you Lord for a smooth transition.
(Extreme obsession with Anya!)
Cayden, his weed-eater, Daddy's boots and Anya!
